Migrant Accused of Attempted Murder, Kidnapping Released Under Biden

An illegal immigrant faces multiple charges after investigators say he stabbed a 15-year-old girl and attempted to abduct her from a Baltimore, Maryland, home. The alleged attack occurred about three years after he was allowed to remain in the United States during the Biden administration.

The Baltimore Police Department identified the suspect as 23-year-old Abubakarr Barrie, who is accused of stabbing the girl inside a residence. Multiple reports indicate that Barrie worked as an unlicensed cab driver.

The Department of Homeland Security said Barrie picked up the victim and brought her “to a basement property that he was renting at the time.”

Investigators allege that Barrie repeatedly stabbed the girl in the basement before she managed to escape and flee.

The incident took place on Oct. 22, and Barrie was arrested two days later. Immigration and Customs Enforcement lodged a detainer against him on the day of his arrest.

Earlier this year, the New York City Police Department arrested Barrie on a charge of third-degree possession of a forged instrument. ICE also issued a detainer at that time, but New York City officials released him in July.

DHS confirmed that Barrie is an illegal immigrant from Sierra Leone who entered the United States through Arizona in December 2023. Border Patrol agents arrested him after his entry, and he was later released under the Biden administration.

DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin said in a statement, “This tragedy would never have happened were it not for the multiple failures of sanctuary policies. First, Biden’s open borders let this monster into our country, then sanctuary politicians in New York refused to hand him over to ICE and released him after a previous arrest three months before this horrific crime. DHS is urging Baltimore County authorities to learn from sanctuary New York’s mistakes, honor ICE’s detainer against this illegal alien, and prevent him from harming any more Americans.”
