Mike Brown won press conference, but his Knicks mission is different task

There was a time when making a good impression during a news conference held significant weight. Names like Pat Riley, Bill Parcells, and Joe Torre not only won over the crowd during their introductory news conferences but set the bar high for future appearances. They exuded confidence and charisma, leaving a lasting impact on the audience.

Just about everyone wins the news conference now. Frankly, you won’t get hired if you’re incapable of winning it.

Fast forward to today, and the landscape has shifted. Gone are the days where coaches like Adam Gase could intimidate with a single glance or where Ben McAdoo would make a quirky fashion statement reminiscent of David Byrne. The era of Mickey Callaway charming the media with his overly enthusiastic love for his team seems like a distant memory.

(It doesn’t take a full season of “True Detective” to crack the case of what those three had in common, does it?)
