Army immediately suspends top commander after astonishing insult

A senior Army commander was suspended after the Wisconsin fort she ran failed to post photos of Donald Trump, JD Vance and Pete Hegseth on her base’s chain-of-command board.

The Pentagon has had a chaotic past week, with several top staffers let go following an investigation into leaks.

Hegseth has consistently tried to lay down the law on insubordination, having previously fired a Space Force commander stationed in Greenland after appearing to distance herself from comments made by the vice president.

On Sunday, the Defense Secretary retweeted a story about the suspension of Colonel Sheyla Baez Ramirez.

‘Commander of Fort McCoy, whose base chain-of-command board was missing photos of Trump, Vance and Hegseth, has been SUSPENDED,’ the post from Breitbart reporter Katrina Wong read.

Ramirez is what’s known as the Garrison Commander at Fort McCoy, responsible for the day-to-day operation and management of a military installation.

A social media post a week ago showing black, blank photo frames where Trump, Vance and Hegseth should be made waves on social media and led to a Defense Department investigation, Task & Purpose reported.

The military outlet noted that there was speculation that Ramirez made the omissions on purpose but it was never confirmed.

Fort McCoy’s Senior Commander Maj. Gen. Patrick J. Reinert did not make any connections in a statement.

‘Col. Sheyla Baez Ramirez has been suspended as Garrison Commander at Fort McCoy. This suspension is not related to any misconduct. We have no further details to provide at this time while this matter is under review,’ he said.

The Army Reserves had said on April 14 that the chain-of-command board was a victim of vandals, not naming Ramirez whatsoever.

‘The Fort McCoy leadership team and the Army Reserve were unaware of the vandalism of the leadership board at a building at Fort McCoy, WI. Once it was brought to their attention, the leadership at Fort McCoy took immediate action to correct it.’

When Ramirez was suspended, the Army Reserves put out the same statement as Reinert had for Fort McCoy.

Ramirez had been promoted to garrison commander in July of 2024 after serving as chief of the Army Reserves at Fort Belvoir in Virginia.

DailyMail.com has reached out to the Pentagon for comment.

If confirmed this was over the chain-of-command board, Ramirez would be the second official disciplined over insubordination.

Just ten days ago, a Space Force commander was fired after she sent out an email distancing herself from Vice President JD Vance’s criticism of Denmark’s oversight of Greenland.

Vance blasted Denmark as he pushed for Greenland to become independent on a visit to the territory in late March, as Donald Trump seeks to acquire it for the United States, including a visit to Pituffik Space Base.

‘This has to happen, and the reason, I hate to say it, is because our friends in Denmark have not done their job in keeping this area safe,’ he said.

Days later, Colonel Susannah Meyers, who runs Pituffik Space Base and was photographed with Vance and his wife Usha during the visit, sent out an email to staffers appearing to rebuke the vice president’s comments.

‘I do not presume to understand current politics, but what I do know is the concerns of the U.S. administration discussed by Vice President Vance are not reflective of Pituffik Space Base,’ Meyers wrote, according to Military.com.

Weeks later, the Space Force sent out a press release announcing that Meyers ‘was removed from command’ over ‘loss of confidence in her ability to lead.’

‘Commanders are expected to adhere to the highest standards of conduct, especially as it relates to remaining nonpartisan in the performance of their duties,’ a spokesperson added.

Colonel Shawn Lee has assumed command.

Meyers’ email was written to both troops and civilians who work on the base, some of whom are from Canada, Denmark and Greenland and its veracity confirmed by the Space Force.

She told them she ‘spent the weekend thinking about Friday’s visit – the actions taken, the words spoken, and how it must have affected each of you’ before slamming the vice president.

‘I commit that, for as long as I am lucky enough to lead this base, all of our flags will fly proudly — together,’ Meyers added.
