The 74th annual Miss Universe pageant has encountered yet another incident, this time involving Miss Jamaica.

WASHINGTON — In a recent update, Miss Universe President Raul Rocha addressed concerns about Miss Jamaica’s condition after an unfortunate fall during the evening gown segment.

Dr. Gabrielle Henry, Jamaica’s representative in this year’s competition, was confidently making her way across the stage during a preliminary round in Thailand when she unexpectedly fell. Videos circulating online show event staff assisting Henry, ultimately transporting her off the stage on a stretcher.

“I want to reassure the Miss Universe community who are worried about our Miss Universe Jamaica’s health,” Rocha announced on Instagram. “I’ve just returned from the hospital where she’s receiving care. I was with her family, and thankfully, there are no fractures. She’s in good hands and will be observed overnight. We will continue to offer support to her and her family. Our thoughts and prayers are with her for a swift recovery.”

Henry, who is an ophthalmologist by profession, was scheduled to compete in the pageant on Friday, November 21.

Miss Universe Jamaica issued a statement on Wednesday, confirming that Henry was rushed to Paolo Rangsit Hospital following the fall. The organization said she “is not suffering from any life-threatening injuries” but that medical professionals are conducting tests to ensure her “full recovery.”

“We kindly ask everyone to stay upbeat, lift her in prayer, and send positive thoughts as she receives the necessary medical care,” the organization said in a statement. “We thank everyone for their outpouring  of love, support, and continued prayer.”

Henry, a physician and an advocate, founded the See Me Foundation, a charity devoted to increasing access to eye care in Jamaica.

It’s the latest mishap tied to the 74th annual Miss Universe pageant.

Earlier this month, a Thai exec was condemned by the Miss Universe owner for the mistreatment of Miss Universe Mexico. The controversy led to walkouts by numerous contestants in support of Mexico’s Fatima Bosch.

When is the Miss Universe 2025 pageant?

The 74th annual Miss Universe pageant will take place on Nov. 21 in Pak Kret, Thailand.

Due to time zone differences, the finale will air on Thursday, Nov. 20, in the U.S. Viewers can stream the pageant finale on Telemundo Peacock and the official Miss Universe YouTube channel.
