() Have you ever gone up to somebody and asked them if they wanted to own a bridge for free?
The Missouri Department of Transportation is offering a historic U.S. Route 160 bridge in Theodosia for relocation and reuse.
“The bridge is eligible for the National Register of Historic Places under criteria A and C for its significance in engineering for the multiple through truss configuration and for its association with the inundation of Bull Shoals Lake,” the Missouri Department of Transportation says on its website.
The DOT acknowledged that up to 100% of the potential demolition costs are open to being reimbursed to the recipient who relocates the bridge.
Anyone interested in obtaining the structure is asked to submit a proposal by Jan. 9, 2026, to the Missouri Department of Transportation Historic Preservation Section.
The Missouri Department of Transportation Historic Preservation is also taking proposals for Swan Creek Lake.
