Missouri Resident Detained in Connection with New Orleans Terror Suspect’s Alleged Use of His Bomb-Making Tutorials for New Year’s Eve Attack

A Missouri resident has been apprehended on charges of disseminating bomb-making instructions online, which were allegedly utilized by an ISIS-affiliated terrorist responsible for a deadly attack in New Orleans on New Year’s Day.

Federal prosecutors revealed on Tuesday that 40-year-old Jordan Derrick is accused of creating and sharing numerous videos on social media platforms, demonstrating the construction of explosive devices, including detonators.

These detailed instructional videos were reportedly accessed by Shamsud-Din Jabbar, the terrorist who drove a truck into a crowd of New Year’s Eve celebrants in New Orleans on January 1, 2025. This horrific attack resulted in the deaths of 14 individuals and left dozens injured.

According to a federal complaint, Jabbar utilized Derrick’s tutorials to assemble the improvised explosive devices he strategically placed around New Orleans in preparation for the assault.

Court documents indicate that one of the explosive substances featured in Derrick’s tutorials, known as RDX, was discovered in Jabbar’s vehicle following the attack.

The devices Jabbar planted around the famed Bourbon Street never ended up detonating.

Jabbar was later killed in a shootout with cops.

Derrick, meanwhile, was hit with a slew of charges on Tuesday — including manufacturing explosives, unlawfully possessing an unregistered destructive device and distributing information related to the manufacturing of explosives.
