Monster Jam brings thousands to EverBank Stadium one last time before renovation

Monster Jam organizers are looking for a different Jacksonville venue to host the event next year.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Twelve-thousand-pound trucks wreaked havoc in Downtown Jacksonville Saturday night.

Monster Jam returned to EverBank Stadium for one last ride before renovations begin.

Renovations already had some impact, as construction machines were scattered around the inside of the stadium, closing several gates and ramps.

However, there was still plenty of excitement out there, with fans young and old anxious to see those steel beasts rev their engines.

“I was pretty impressed because one got on fire and I was like, ‘No! One got on fire,'” said Lillie Nipper while reminiscing about last year’s Monster Jam.

Nipper says she’s been to every Monster Jam for the last six years – and considering she’s all of eight years old – that’s quite a feat!

She keeps coming back to cheer on her favorite truck, El Toro Loco.

“Cuz it has the horns, and it’s just so cool,” said Nipper.

She wasn’t the only one cheering on the orange truck.

“We made the hat because they sell the kids version, but it’s for kids, but we wanted an adult version, so we made it,” said Ashley Powell.

As excited as Powell was to pop in her monster truck earrings and make the trek up from Daytona Beach, she’s a bit bummed to know they won’t be sitting in EverBank Stadium for all the carnage next year.

“It’s a shame because it’s a big venue, which is good for the trucks as opposed to being in the arena,” said fellow fan Matt Spence. “The arena shows are much smaller.”

The timeline the Jaguars provided for the renovation says the Jaguars will play at EverBank Stadium with slightly reduced capacity next season, limited capacity in 2026 and will leave for the 2027 season.

However, it doesn’t specify what the impact will be like on non-football major events, like Monster Jam.

Saturday’s Monster Jam is the last event currently listed on the EverBank Stadium website.

A Monster Jam spokesperson said that while it won’t be held at the stadium next year, organizers are planning to keep the event in Jacksonville.

She said they’re looking for other locations that can accommodate the trucks and fans now and will eventually make an announcement.

This means Nipper will be able to keep her streak alive for a seventh year, watching for her favorite moments.

“A truck flips and a truck going on fire again,” said Nipper.

She kind of got what she wanted right away.

The iconic Gravedigger was engulfed in smoke due to a transmission issue and had to be towed away, but that’s all part of the experience.
