Myles Garrett seems to be racing toward another kind of record, this time involving his frequent brushes with speeding laws. The Cleveland Browns’ standout defensive end has been flagged for speeding again, marking at least his ninth such offense since joining the NFL in 2017.

In an incident last month, Garrett was clocked driving at 94 mph in a 70-mph zone in Wayne County, Ohio. Reports reveal that the citation occurred while he was behind the wheel of a green 2024 Porsche, shortly after attending a basketball game between Miami (Ohio) and Bowling Green in Oxford, Ohio. The game concluded with Miami’s victory, with a final score of 91-77.

Despite his high-speed habits, Garrett’s demeanor remains commendable. The officer who pulled him over described him as “kind and cooperative,” according to wkyc.com. Garrett has the option to appear in court on March 10 or resolve the matter by paying a fine, which is expected to exceed $100.

This incident comes on the heels of Garrett’s impressive athletic achievements. The reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year recently set a new single-season sack record with 23 sacks. Yet, his prowess on the field has been somewhat overshadowed by his difficulties adhering to speed limits since his professional debut with the Browns.

Garrett, fresh off setting the new single-season sack record with 23, has struggled to obey speeding laws since landing with the Browns in 2017.

The 30-year-old once received tickets for going 120 mph and 105 mph in a 70-mph zone in a 24-hour frame, per wkyc.com, along with a 2020 citation for driving 100 mph in a 65-mph zone.

Arguably his scariest situation unfolded in 2022 when he and a female passenger suffered injuries in a single-car crash while leaving the Browns’ facility, with his car flipping several times.

He received a citation for “failure to control his motor vehicle,” ESPN reported at the time, and the highway patrol said he had been traveling at an “unsafe speed for the type of roadway.”

This most-recent citation is his second since that scary incident, according to Cleveland.com.

Garrett just completed his ninth season in the NFL, all with the Browns, and has spent some of his offseason with Olympian girlfriend Chloe Kim.

He traveled to Italy to watch her in the 2026 Games in the halfpipe, where she earned a silver medal.

This upcoming season will mark his first under new coach Todd Monken.
