Nicole Kidman found herself spending Thanksgiving without the company of her youngest children this year. The celebrated actress agreed that her teenage daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, would celebrate the holiday with their father, following the couple’s decision to divorce in September.

For Kidman, who has made Nashville her home, this American holiday may have been tinged with an inevitable sense of solitude. Despite the circumstances, she remains steadfast in her familiar surroundings.

The dynamics between Kidman and her soon-to-be ex-husband, both aged 58, have drawn considerable attention. Despite their split, they continue to live in close proximity. Kidman has stayed in their shared residence, while Keith Urban has relocated to a nearby location.

Locals frequently spot the pair navigating their lives in this shared space, often shopping separately at the same Whole Foods and even sharing the same hair stylist, Ashley Wahler, who manages Kidman’s signature butterscotch locks and Urban’s frosted tips.

Insiders suggest that this situation could easily escalate into a Tennessee showdown. Yet, if the town truly isn’t large enough for both of them, should Kidman really be the one to retreat and leave her established home behind?

After all, Kidman was reportedly left ‘devastated’ and ‘shocked’ by the dissolution of their 19-year union.

Sure, country star and mini-man Urban made Nashville his home before he met and married his ‘Babygirl’ – but she left her entire life in LA to contort herself to his comforts once wed.

And don’t forget, she carted him off to rehab just four months after that 2006 wedding, and not once did she whinge or waver.

By all accounts, the now two-time divorcee is barely weathering the storm, leaning on good friends, her daughters and closest confidante, sister Antonia. 

She recently told Interview magazine that she is ‘hanging in there’. 

Anyone who’s been through a nasty breakup knows that’s girl code for ‘I’m basically falling apart and living off mimosas and sea moss, but holding it together when anyone’s looking.’

Contrast that with Good Time Charlie Urban who’s been linked with more than a few beauties who are barely a few years older than his first-born daughter.

My advice to Nicole?

If you want to win this war, as much as it hurts, the only road she needs to take is the high one.

There is no need to bad mouth an ex when he’s doing enough damage to himself already. 

Let Keith have his embarrassing midlife crisis while you process your pain in private, and continue setting a good example for your daughters by working hard and extending good grace to a former partner who doesn’t really deserve it. 

Wherever you choose to have a family with someone, even when it falls apart in spectacular fashion, that is your home.

Nicole has more hair so she should get custody of the hair stylist – and also first pick of Whole Foods, for when the moment comes and she needs a little late-night chocolate, or a box organic tissues and an ugly cry.
