On Wednesday night, a violent altercation erupted on the streets of Southeast Washington, D.C., prompting intervention from the National Guard after a woman reportedly attacked a man with a 12-inch kitchen knife.

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) reported that 31-year-old Tiana Robinson, a local resident, faces charges of assault with a dangerous weapon. Meanwhile, Kenneth Evans, 29, also from Southeast D.C., has been charged with simple assault in connection with the incident.

The disturbance unfolded shortly before 8 p.m., when MPD officers, alongside National Guard members, responded to the scene after a concerned citizen alerted them to the escalating brawl.

In a scene captured by Craig Hudson for The Washington Post, National Guard personnel were positioned with an MPD vehicle at the U.S. Park Police Anacostia Operations Facility in Washington, D.C.

According to a court affidavit obtained by Fox News Digital, the altercation resulted in a man sustaining a stab wound to his hand from what he described as a foot-long kitchen knife. He was subsequently transported to Howard University Hospital for medical care.

Investigators said the confrontation started as the victim and his cousin were leaving a restaurant, heading to the Navy Yard Metro Station, and realized a man and woman were following them.

An argument ensued, and Evans allegedly punched the victim’s cousin in the face “out of nowhere” with a closed fist, prompting the victim to step in, according to witnesses.

During the struggle, Robinson allegedly swung a large knife at the victim, causing a deep cut in his palm.

Several National Guard members who were on patrol nearby witnessed the fight and stepped in to break it up, according to court documents.

Multiple witnesses told police they saw one of the suspects holding a knife during the fight, though police were only able to find a blood trail and no weapon.

MPD did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
