() As recovery efforts continue in central Texas following the floods, a group of active and retired Navy SEALs are working to assist crews on the ground.
Greg Froelick, a retired Navy SEAL, is part of that group. He told they are working towards getting down to Canyon Lake, which is near Camp Mystic where 27 campers and counselors died due to the floods.
Froelick added this was a personal mission for the group to go and assist with efforts, as some of the members have a close connection to the area and have sent their kids to camps there.
“We didn’t have specific training on disaster relief,” Froelick said. “All I know is that we can come together very quick without a plan moving forward; we just go to the areas that other people won’t go to and develop a plan on the fly to help.”
With most of Texas being under a flood watch still, Froelick said some of the group was still out on the water helping out, moving to other areas to help out.
The death toll from the floods has risen to 129 people, and hundreds more remain missing.
