In Rosharon, Texas, former NBA player Patrick Beverley has been taken into custody and faces a felony assault charge stemming from what authorities describe as a “family violence” situation. The arrest occurred early Friday morning at a residence in Rosharon, according to the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office. Beverley’s bail has been set at $40,000.
Beverley, 37, took to social media to urge the public not to “believe everything you see on the internet,” hinting at the complexities of the situation.
He further shared an unsigned statement on social media, which outlined his version of events. The statement revealed that Beverley unexpectedly discovered his younger sister, a minor, in the company of an 18-year-old male.
“He was understandably concerned, as any brother would be about his sister. However, we don’t believe what followed happened the way it’s been described and we look forward to the opportunity to address that in court,” the statement conveyed, suggesting that the narrative surrounding the incident may not fully align with the facts.
