()Police say human remains found near a wooded area near a highway belong to Tyler Goodrich, a Nebraska man who had been missing since November 2023.

Goodrich left his home in Lincoln after an argument with his husband nearly more than a year ago, sparking a massive search for the father of two.

Authorities said during a news conference Tuesday that they discovered Goodrich’s remains near Highway 77 after someone reported a body.

“Based on what we have discovered and details at the scene, the deceased has been identified as Tyler Goodrich, who has been missing since November 3rd, 2023,” Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Ben Houchin said.

Houchin said he believed the body had been there for over a year and that he was not killed.

“Preliminary results of our investigation have led us to believe this is not a homicide, and there is no threat to the public,” Houchin stated.

The remains were located about 10 to 15 yards from the road and about 967 yards from Tyler’s residence.

“We are so grateful for everybody the public, other law enforcement agencies who have helped us and volunteered in looking for Tyler,” the chief said.

Goodrich’s husband told investigators he called 911 after the two got into a physical altercation on November 3, 2023, and that Goodrich then ran out of the house, his cell phone going silent shortly after.

He never returned, and investigators began to conduct searches over the area. A canine search about three weeks after Goodrich disappeared revealed a path he may have taken after leaving the house.

That path took him along a wooded area, ending along a road.

Houchin said the area Goodrich was found was covered in a search by public volunteers.

Tyler’s husband, Marshall Vogel, told NBC News that their family is heartbroken.

“This is an unimaginable tragedy. Tyler was a husband, a loving father and a friend to so many,” he said.

Goodrich’s case had sparked the interest of more than 23,000 people in the community and online. His friends say he gathered people from all different groups as friends, from work, his running group, the military, the LGBTQ+ community and lifelong friends.
