Israel won't begin cease-fire until Hamas releases names of hostages: Benjamin Netanyahu

Just before the anticipated cease-fire agreement between Israel and Hamas was about to start, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed concerns as he had not yet received the list of captives to be released.

On Sunday, three female hostages were supposed to be freed from Gaza, and Israeli officials expected Hamas to provide their names the day before.

However, Israel had not received the names by early Sunday, prompting Netanyahu to declare that the cease-fire, set for 8:30 a.m., would not commence until the list of hostages was provided by Hamas, as reported by the Times of Israel.

Hamas claimed on Saturday that the failure to turn over the names was due to “technical reasons,” The Times of Israel reported.

The hostage exchange was expected at 4 p.m. local time — 1:30 a.m. eastern standard time.
