Netflix bosses have vowed to stand by the Sussexes despite disappointing ratings and dire reviews for Prince Harry’s polo documentary.

Amid mounting speculation that the streaming service is considering ending its business relationship with the couple, Netflix’s Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria emphasized that the company is still enthusiastic about the possibility of collaborating with Harry and Meghan on upcoming projects.

Prince Harry’s five-part documentary POLO was deemed a flop with critics deeming it ‘boring’.

The lack of prominent promotion by the couple for a recent project has fueled rumors suggesting issues surrounding their lucrative £80 million deal with Netflix.

Nevertheless, Ms. Bajaria maintained Netflix’s unwavering support for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s future endeavors, expressing confidence that Meghan’s new cooking series, “With Love Meghan,” will resonate well with audiences.

Asked where Netflix ‘stand with that deal’ Ms Bajaria told the Mail: ‘We have Meghan’s new show coming out, which is great.’

‘It is such a great take on a lifestyle show and showcase for California, Montecito and nature. It really has great takeaways. I was like ‘oh my God, I want to really do that pasta.’ There’s really easy great takeaways on life. I am really excited about that coming out.’

It is the first time a senior Netflix executive has gone on the record to confirm that The Sussexes will move forward with projects.

Ms Bajaria added that Meghan is working on a screen adaptation of the bestselling romance novel Meet Me at the Lake by Carley Fortune.

However as yet it remains in ‘development’ and has not been greenlit for production.

Asked whether the movie is ‘definitely coming out’, she insisted: ‘It is in development. It is a great book, she had it and we are happy to do it.’

‘And we have things in development. Everyone is excited about what is coming. I am really excited for her show.’

The media executive spoke at the 2025 Next on Netflix Preview Event in Los Angeles, where one of the streamer’s top comics took a swipe at The Sussexes’ performances during the high profile presentation.

Comic John Mulaney made a savage dig at them for having ‘no specific plan’ when they landed a content deal with American powerhouse Netflix.

The sharp US stand up comic mocked Harry and Meghan in front of a packed house including Netflix’s most senior bosses as they unveiled their 2025 shows and film line up.

His comment came amid speculation in media circles of troubles with the multimillion pound TV production deal for the couple, branded by one Spotify executive as ‘grifters’.

Interestingly in a glossy PR brochure, promoting the biggest 2025 releases, the ex actress’s new cooking show With Love Meghan did not feature.

That show or any other Sussex projects were not referenced once during Netflix Chief Content Officer Bajaria’s hour long presentation of their biggest projects this year.

Mulaney took aim at the California based Royals during his comedic stage announcement of his new Netflix chat show Everybody’s Live.

He noted of his show: ‘This is a really fun experiment. Not since Harry and Meghan has Netflix given more money to someone without a specific plan.’

His barb had the audience in stitches and some members of the assembled media looking shocked – given how Netflix have stood by The Sussexes for almost five years.
