A man from New Hampshire now faces serious charges of attempted murder following an alarming incident that unfolded near the U.S.-Canada border. The event took place shortly after midnight on Sunday near a port of entry in Pittsburg, New Hampshire, close to Quebec.

The accused, identified as Blu Zeke Daly, also known by the name Cullan Zeke Daly, hails from Manchester, New Hampshire. According to a statement from the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office, Daly was driving late Saturday night when he had an encounter with a Border Patrol agent. During this interaction, the agent inquired if Daly was known by any other names.

In response, Daly, who is 26 years old, reportedly drove away. The Border Patrol agent followed him, leading to a tense situation. Daly arrived at the Pittsburg Port of Entry just after midnight on Sunday, only to find it closed with the gate securely locked.

It was at this point that the agent activated his emergency lights and stepped out of his vehicle. According to the report, Daly then allegedly fired a gun at the agent. In defense, the agent returned fire, striking Daly.

This troubling sequence of events has led to significant legal repercussions for Daly, as authorities work to piece together the full narrative of what transpired during those tense moments at the border.

“Initial reports indicate that the subject opened fire on the agent at which time the agent returned fire,” U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Rodney Scott said in a statement. “CBP is cooperating fully with investigators.”

Daly was brought to a nearby hospital for medical treatment and was under guard as of Tuesday. His condition or severity of his injuries was not included in the release.

The Border Patrol agent has not been identified, and reports do not indicate whether the officer was injured in the incident.

Daly has been charged with one count of attempted murder of a federal officer and one count of assaulting a federal officer with a deadly weapon. Each count carries a sentence of up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000, if convicted.

The FBI is leading the investigation, and the case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Alexander S. Chen.
