The father of murdered JonBenét Ramsey has revealed the latest development after meeting with local police to solve the decades-long cold case.

John Ramsey sat down Monday with Boulder, Colorado police to discuss new crime scene evidence in his daughter’s murder case.

During an interview with CNN scheduled to be broadcast on Tuesday, Ramsey revealed that he had urged Boulder police to conduct additional DNA testing to aid in unraveling the 28-year-old homicide using genetic genealogy.

Expressing his satisfaction, the grieving father mentioned that he is content with the current leadership at the Boulder Police Department and is confident that they are dedicated to utilizing the latest technology and all available resources to uncover the perpetrator.

He added that Boulder cops are ‘continuing to move the investigation forward using all available tools and certainly DNA is a significant tool’.

Ramsey also expressed his wish that sustained media coverage of his daughter’s tragic killing might prompt individuals holding information about the case to come forward and assist in the investigation.

‘Please help us. I’m not vindictive. I just want an answer. And if you can help us with that, please call’, he added.

The latest interview comes after Ramsey said last month that he planned to propose conducting further DNA testing on several items recovered from the crime scene using revolutionary techniques.

The Ramsey family has a fractured history with the police department and have previously said that past administrations have been reluctant to keep working on the case.

Over the years there have been hundreds of tips, leads and possible suspects but nobody has been formally charged.

But Ramsey said he is more confident than ever that a breakthrough is imminent.

Several items which were previously DNA tested returned a match for an unidentified male and definitively ruled out Ramsey, his wife Patsy and their older son Burke as possible suspects after years of speculation.

The DNA was found under JonBenét’s fingernails, in her underwear and on several items such as the garrote used to strangle her and a blanket used to conceal her body/

‘I  was told early on by experienced homicide detectives this wouldn’t have been a difficult case to solve, even in 1997’, Ramsey said.

Speaking about the importance of using genetic genealogy technology, Ramsey said: ‘I think it is the key. I think it’s the only way this case will be solved. Because the technology is there, and we’re going to insist and beg the police to use it. It’d be absurd not to’.

The technique has already proved successful in identifying Joseph James DeAngelo, the ‘Golden State Killer’ in 2018 and Ramsey is confident similar results can be achieved for his daughter.

It has been 28 years since Ramsey found JonBenét’s lifeless body hidden under a blanket in the basement of the family home.

She had been reported missing just hours earlier after he stricken mom found a ransom note on the stairs demanding $118,000 for her daughter’s safe return.

Patsy called 911 to report the incident and police responded quickly but the child’s body wasn’t found until hours later during a search led by Ramsey himself.

Suspicion quickly focused on the family, which soon established a strained relationship with Boulder Police Department.

A Netflix documentary released in November, Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenet Ramsey, addresses how misinformation about the case was spread widely by law enforcement and the media.

In the wake of the explosive Netflix documentary about the decades-old case, Ramsey received a letter from a woman claiming her ex-husband is his daughter’s killer.

John Ramsey said he immediately followed up on the tip, but is yet to hear back from the mystery sender, he told the Daily Mail.
