DENVER (KDVR) A new hot item is set to hit the sports card market, and Mike’s Stadium Sportscards in Aurora, Colorado, is ready to pay the price to get it.
The card in question is an autographed one-of-one Superfractor rookie card of Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix.
The 2024 Topps Chrome football packs and boxes are expected to arrive Wednesday, with the coveted Nix card hidden inside a random pack. One lucky collector will become the lone person in possession of the card, and Mike’s Stadium Sportscards wants to make sure it finds its way to their collection.
“So somebody out there, hopefully in the shop, hopefully soon, will pull a Bo Nix autographed card. It’s called the Superfracto,r and we expect it to be, if not his best, then among his best rookie cards,” said Michael Fruitman, the owner of Mike’s Stadium Sportscards.
According to Topps’ website, the odds of pulling the card range from 1 in 62,480 to 1 in 2,505, depending on the type of box or pack purchased.
“If somebody brings us the one-of-one base card, the Superfractor of him that’s autographed, we’re gonna give them $50,000,” said Fruitman.
The story did caveat that the card needs to be in PSA 9+ condition. The Professional Sports Authenticator grading system is used as the standard in determining card value. Minute details such as nanometers of printing placement are taken into consideration when determining the grade of the card.
The highest grade a card can receive is a PSA 10, more commonly known as “mint condition.” So, a card pulled straight from the box and handled with care should carry a rating of PSA 9 without a problem.
Mike’s Stadium Sportscards also said that if the card is pulled from any of its in-person locations or from its digital breaking channel on WAXXED, an extra $10,000 in store credit will be added to the initial payout.
The store said the collector who pulls the card will have 30 days to get it to Mike’s Stadium Sportscards, so they can keep it in Colorado, “where it deserves to be.”
