In Riverview, Florida, a dramatic scene unfolded early Thursday morning as fireworks ignited a fierce house fire, as confirmed by the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue (HCFR).

The emergency unfolded just before 1 a.m., when numerous 911 calls reported a blaze on Mile Marsh Drive. Responding to the alerts, firefighting crews arrived to find the house consumed by flames, with the fire dangerously close to spreading to the neighboring residence.

“Firefighters quickly deployed handlines to shield the adjacent home, while simultaneously tackling the main fire,” stated the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue. “Aerial operations were employed, and due to the intensity of the fire, crews adopted a defensive strategy. The flames were successfully subdued in less than an hour.”

Fortunately, the family residing in the affected home had their lives spared, thanks to timely alerts from their fire alarms, which allowed them to evacuate safely.

The family inside the home was alerted by fire alarms and was able to get out of the house safely.

No injuries were reported, and the American Red Cross has been contacted to assist the displaced family.

According to HCFR, the investigation unit determined that fireworks caused the fire.

HCFR also worked three other fires overnight, with two in Riverview, one in Valrico, and one in Carrollwood.

HCFR said three out of the four fires were caused by fireworks.
