INGLEWOOD, Calif. — Malik Nabers is set to undergo an MRI, while Brian Burns faces an anxious wait after both Giants stars were injured during Monday night’s 28-6 loss to the Rams.
Nabers reset his dislocated shoulder in the first quarter, and Burns sustained a low-ankle sprain in the final minutes. The injuries capped a brutal night for New York, which also lost quarterback Jaxson Dart to a likely sprained MCL.
“I pulled it back in and started feeling a little bit of strength back,” Nabers said. “We were without Jaxson, and I didn’t want to give the team another loss, so I went back in.”
Nabers was hurt when he hit the ground after an incompletion from Jameis Winston. Playing only his second game since a torn ACL ended his 2025 season, the wide receiver finished with one catch for 1 yard as he continues “knocking dust off to see what he can do with this new knee.”
Burns remained on the field even after the outcome was no longer in doubt, but his left ankle twisted late in the fourth quarter. He put no weight on the leg while two people helped him off the field, then slowly made his way to the locker room and showers.
“It wasn’t as bad as it felt, so that’s a plus,” Burns said. “It’s getting stiff. It eases my mind to know it’s not nothing serious.”
The Giants now face a cross-country red-eye flight followed by a quick turnaround before Sunday’s matchup with the Titans. Whether Burns can play will depend on how his ankle responds.
“I’ve dealt with this before,” Burns said. “It all depends on how fast you can get the swelling and inflammation down. I’m going to do everything possible to get as tamed as I can. The recovery process starts now, so it will be ice and compression until we get back to the facility and try to stay off it, keep it elevated.”
