SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) The San Jose Sharks have publicly apologized following the appearance of a controversial pro-Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) message on their jumbotron during Hispanic Heritage Night at the SAP Center.

This message, which was displayed during the first intermission of the Sharks’ game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Los Tiburones Night, read, “SJ SHARKS FANS LOVE ICE!! GET’EM BOYZ!”

The Sharks released a statement addressing the incident: “During the first intermission of tonight’s game, an offensively worded message, externally submitted, was inadvertently shown on the in-arena scoreboard. Sharks Sports & Entertainment deeply regrets that this message, which does not align with our organization’s values, was not caught during our standard review process. The Sharks organization sincerely apologizes for this oversight, and we are actively investigating the source of the message.”
