Nicki Minaj deletes Instagram account after appearing with Erika Kirk at TPUSA event

Sound the alarm—Nicki Minaj has exited Instagram.

The 43-year-old rapper removed her account in the wake of criticism following her participation at the Turning Point USA event, AmericaFest, held in Phoenix, Arizona on Sunday.

Minaj experienced a significant drop of nearly 10 million followers after sharing the stage with Erika Kirk, the widow of slain political activist Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated in September.

In response, she has opted to leave the social media platform entirely.

Nonetheless, fans were quick to remind everyone that Minaj has periodically taken breaks from Instagram in the past.

During her appearance on Sunday, the artist urged young men to be more like “handsome, dashing” President Trump.

“He has given so many people hope that there’s a chance to beat the bad guys and to win and to do it with your head held high,” Minaj told Kirk, 37, about the president.

She also drew comparison to herself and Trump, 79, explaining how they both grew up in Queens, New York.

“What it’s shown me, personally, is sometimes even in the worst feeling times in your life, you think you’re never going to come back from it. But you do. And our president shows that,” Minaj said. “He’s been through every single thing a person can be through publicly – having to constantly be lied [about].”

Slamming California Gov. Gavin Newsom, the songwriter added another piece of advice to men out there: “Don’t be Newscum.”

During her time on the mic, Minaj read some of her social media jabs at the elected official, 58.

“Imagine being the guy running on wanting to see trans kids,” she quipped. “Not even a trans adult would run on that. Normal adults want to see happy, safe kids.”

Minaj has been vocal in past months about not agreeing with Newsom’s stance on transgender children.

The hitmaker also opened up about her religious journey and touched on the slaughtering of Christians in Nigeria.

“We won’t be silenced ever again; we will speak up for Christians wherever they are in this world,” Minaj stated.

The “Side to Side” songstress promised the audience that she is “not gonna back down anymore” and urged those in attendance to stand up for what they believe in.

When asked about the backlash Minaj has faced in the music industry for speaking out, she declared: “I didn’t notice.”

“We’re the cool kids. The other people, they’re the others that are still just disgruntled,” Minaj stressed about the critics. “They are angry with themselves.”

As she put it, “In a world that doesn’t want us to think, we will think.”

Elsewhere in the conversation Minaj told Kirk, “You have amazing role models like the assassin JD Vance, our vice president.”

She quickly caught herself after using the awkward phrasing. Charlie was shot and killed at age 31 by a suspect who “intentionally” targeted him.

But the CEO of Turning Point quickly assured Minaj that she didn’t take offense.

Vance, 41, also took to the stage to praise the celebrity.

“I’ve had this little nagging voice in the back of my head wondering whether she [Minaj] thinks I look like the JD Vance meme,” he joked in his speech.

“And it turns out, and I confirmed when she walked down the steps, Nicki Minaj actually knows what I really look like, and that is the best tribute that I could possibly imagine.”

After appearing at AmericaFest, fans resurfaced fellow rapper Cardi B’s old tweets.

The Grammy winner, 33, who has notoriously feuded with Minaj in the past, tweeted in 2024: “I will never turn Republican lol.”

The post resurfaced on Tuesday, days after Minaj’s surprise cameo.

Threads creator @kendollmix uploaded a screenshot of the message, captioning it: “She said what she said! Cardi for Congress.”
