Nicole Kidman recently made a striking return to the public eye, marking her first appearance since initiating divorce proceedings with Keith Urban, to advocate for a significant cause.

On Saturday night, the Oscar-winning actress presented Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan with the Award of Inspiration at an amfAR Dallas auction.

Taking the stage in a sleek black off-the-shoulder gown, Kidman delivered heartfelt remarks emphasizing unity and compassion.

In a video shared by People, she expressed, “What Taylor, and all of us, understand is that we share more similarities than differences, and we’re stronger when we support one another. That’s the essence of why we’re gathered tonight. The best way to uplift our shared humanity is by backing daring and innovative research.”

The star from Being the Ricardos has collaborated with Sheridan on the Paramount+ show Special Ops: Lioness, taking on the role of Kaitlyn Meade, a top-ranking CIA officer.

The event, held at the home of United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby, marked a notable moment for the star, who has largely stayed out of the public eye amid her recent split from Urban after 18 years of marriage.

Despite the personal upheaval, Kidman appeared poised and focused on the evening’s mission, spotlighting the ongoing fight against HIV/AIDS and honoring those making a difference through advocacy and innovation.

Other notable attendees included Diana Ross, Teri Hatcher and Dirk Nowitzki. 

Her appearance comes after a source told People Kidman has ‘been stressed [for months] because she knew the separation would eventually become public and she was dreading’ the public’s response. 

‘She’s surprisingly level-headed and calm. Now that it’s out she’s just focused on what’s ahead and her girls,’ the insider said of the couple’s daughters Sunday, 17, and Faith, 14. 

The actress and musician’s separation was confirmed by Daily Mail on Monday. Nicole filed for divorce on Tuesday, citing irreconcilable differences.

Their marriage began to fall apart at the beginning of summer 2025. The split was reportedly a long-term development, stemming from months of quiet separation and diverging paths due to work commitments, according to Daily Mail sources.

Kidman has requested to be the primary residential parent in the custody arrangement.

The pair met at the G’Day LA gala ball in January 2005.

 In a 2013 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the Babygirl star confessed it wasn’t until four months after they met that Urban asked her out.

She recalled: ‘I’m like, “You didn’t love me at first sight, you didn’t notice me,” and he’s like, “Yes I did but I just didn’t let on,” but we kind of met and then about four months later he called me.’

On the Australian talk show Interview in 2018, Urban admitted he had to muster the confidence to call the movie star.

‘I’d never have thought she’d see anything in a guy like me. But at some point I plucked up the courage to call those numbers, and she answered,’ he said.

‘We started talking, and we talked and talked and talked and talked, and it was effortless.’ the singer added.

The couple made their public debut at the 2006 Grammy Awards, skipping the red carpet but canoodling inside the annual awards ceremony.

A source close to the family told People on Monday that Nicole had ‘been fighting to save the marriage’ and that ‘she didn’t want this.’

Nicole and Keith tied the knot in 2006 during a traditional Catholic ceremony at the Cardinal Cerretti Chapel in Sydney, Australia.

The silver screen siren was previously married to Tom Cruise, with whom she shares two adult children.

The former husband and wife were married from 1990-2001. They adopted daughter Bella, 32, and son Connor, 30.

In 2018 Kidman told Who that she is protective of her relationship with the kids.

‘I’m very private about all that. I have to protect all those relationships,’ she said.

However, the mom-of-four added, ‘I know 150% that I would give up my life for my children because it’s what my purpose is.’
