Nicole Scherzinger Shows Burn Injuries During Manchester Visit

Nicole Scherzinger has revealed the burns she suffered in a boiling-water accident while stepping out in Manchester wearing cropped leggings.

The 48-year-old singer was left with painful burns and blisters running down her leg after boiling water spilled over her just one hour before she was due to perform with the Pussycat Dolls in Düsseldorf last weekend.

One week after the accident, Nicole appeared determined to carry on as she showed the injuries while wearing cropped black leggings and a coordinating sports bra.

The “Don’t Cha” hitmaker appeared keen to avoid attention as she left her hotel in a black baseball cap and sunglasses.

She paired the casual outfit with Nike trainers and swept her long, dark hair into a tidy ponytail.

Despite the ordeal, Nicole appeared cheerful as fans greeted her outside the hotel, where she stopped to sign autographs.

The following Sunday, Nicole shared an image of the burns and blisters with fans, just 24 hours after the accident.

Refusing to allow the injury to derail the tour, she made it clear that she intended to perform, declaring that “the show must go on.”

The NHS advises anyone who suffers a burn to place the affected area under cool running water for 20 minutes. Tight clothing and jewellery close to the injury should also be removed before swelling develops.

“Nothing like boiling water falling on your leg an hour before your set – but the show must go on,” she wrote.

“Thanks Düsseldorf for keeping me going. See you soon Amsterdam.”

The Pussycat Dolls revealed their reunion in March, announcing their first new single in six years, “Club Song,” which was produced and co-written by Mike Sabath.

Their comeback plans suffered a setback last month when the group cancelled the entire US section of the tour amid disappointing ticket sales.

Nicole, Ashley Roberts, 45, and Kimberly Wyatt, 44, had initially confirmed that they would reunite as a trio for an extensive 53-date tour spanning the UK, Europe and North America.

However, the group was forced to abandon all 33 scheduled dates in the US and Canada after weak demand reportedly left venues around 80 per cent empty.

Organisers had even reduced ticket prices to $30, but ultimately cancelled the shows only a month before the planned June 5 opening night in Palm Desert, California.

Now a week later, Nicole put on a brave face as she displayed her injuries in a pair of cropped black leggings and a matching sports bra

Sharing a statement to Instagram, the band wrote: ‘When we announced the PCD FOREVER Tour, we hoped to bring the show to fans across the world.

‘After taking an honest look at the North American run, we’ve made the difficult and heartbreaking decision to cancel all but one of the North America dates.

‘Our UK and European dates are still moving forward as planned, and the response has been incredible, with several shows already sold out,’ they continued.

‘We are putting everything into making this show a true celebration of the music and the memories, for the fans who have been with us from the beginning and those discovering us for the first time.

‘We’re working hard to create the kind of show we’ve always dreamed of bringing to you. We cannot wait to bring this reunion to Europe and make these nights unforgettable.’

The trio kicked off their tour in Copenhagen in September followed by shows in Paris, Warsaw and the UK.

Those who bought tickets from Ticketmaster or AXS were informed they would receive a full refund automatically, while those who bought theirs from third-party resellers have been advised to contact their point of purchase.

The Pussycat Dolls’ comeback has been marred in controversy since it was first announced due to the exclusion of three of the group’s founding members, Carmit Bachar, Jessica Sutta and Melody Thornton.

Carmit and Jessica have since revealed they were both blindsided by the reunion and were never even asked to take part, with the latter going as far as to call it a ‘cash grab’.

BURNS – WHAT ARE THEY, AND HOW DO YOU TREAT THEM?

Burns are damage to the skin caused by dry heat, such as an iron or a fire.

This is different to scalds, which occur due to wet heat like hot water or steam.

Burns can be very painful and may cause:

  • Red or peeling skin
  • Blisters
  • Swelling
  • White or charred skin

But the amount of pain a person feels is not always related to how serious the burn is.

Even a very serious burn can be painless.

To treat a burn:

  • Remove the heat source
  • Cool with cool or lukewarm running water for 20 minutes. Do not use ice
  • Remove any nearby clothing or jewellery unless it is stuck to the skin
  • Keep the person warm with a blanket
  • Cover the burn with clingfilm
  • Use painkillers like paracetamol if necessary
  • If the face or eyes are burnt, keep sitting up to reduce swelling

Burns that require immediate A&E treatment are:

  • Chemical or electrical
  • Large or deep – bigger than the injured person’s hand
  • Those that cause white or charred skin
  • Those on the face, hands, limbs, feet or genitals that blister

Pregnant women, children under five, the elderly, those with a weak immune system and people suffering from a medical condition, like diabetes, should also go to hospital.

Treatment depends on what layers of the skin are affected.

In severe cases, a skin graft may be required.
