TUSKEGEE, Ala. (WRBL) — On the fourth day of the trial, jurors were presented with testimony from several Alabama forensic scientists regarding the evidence in the tragic shooting death of 19-year-old Aniah Blanchard.

Michelle Quinco, an Alabama forensic scientist, examined the shell casings from three jacketed bullets discovered in Blanchard’s car. She noted, “Upon reviewing multiple shell casings to link them to a specific firearm, the findings were inconclusive because of the condition of the casings.” Quinco added, “It’s possible that at least two different firearms were involved.”

The prosecution then introduced Joseph Lee, Director of the Alabama Forensic Science Lab, who is an expert in DNA analysis, to the proceedings.

Among the various pieces of evidence collected from Blanchard’s vehicle were items including condoms, several hairs from boxers (underwear), hair located on the driver’s side headrest, and a bullet projectile found in the passenger seat.

Crucially, no DNA belonging to the defendant Ibraheem Yazeed or Antwon Fisher, also known by the nickname “Squirmy,” was detected in the vehicle.

A majority of the DNA samples found in Blanchard’s vehicle either belonged to her, didn’t belong to Yazeed or Fisher or were deemed inconclusive to investigators. But, when asked by prosecutors if this evidence means that Yazeed was never in the vehicle, Lee responded, “I’m not saying the defendant wasn’t in there.”

The trial will enter day 10 tomorrow and testimony will continue.
