WASHINGTON — Oasis guitarist Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs is stepping away from tour after revealing his prostate cancer diagnosis.

Arthurs announced the scheduled break on Instagram Friday. The guitarist had been touring with the British rock band as part of their reunion tour.

“Early this year I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. The good news is I’m responding really well to treatment, which meant I could be part of this incredible tour,” Arthurs said in a statement. “Now, I am having to take a planned break for the next phase of my care, so I’ll be missing the gigs in Seoul, Tokyo, Melbourne and Sydney.”

“I’m really sad to be missing these shows but I’m feeling good and will be back ready to go in time for South America,” he added. “Have an amazing time if you’re going this month and I’ll see you back onstage with the band in November.”

“Wishing you all the best with your treatment @boneheadspage — we’ll see you back on stage in South America,” Oasis said in a story post on their official Instagram page.

Oasis ended a 16-year hiatus this summer after kicking off their reunion tour in Cardiff, England.

The reunion tour marked the first time guitarist-songwriter Noel Gallagher and his singer brother Liam had performed together since their acrimonious split in 2009.

The band, known for hits like “Wonderwall” and “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” had tour dates in North America and will now head to Asia, Australia and South America. The final tour date will be in Sao Paulo on Nov. 23.

Arthurs is an original member of the British rock band, joining them in 1991 before exiting in 1999.

Former Oasis members Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Joey Waronker also returned for the reunion tour.
