A plane crash in Ohio claimed the lives of a wealthy steel magnate, James Weller, along with his family, as they were on their way to Montana for a vacation. The tragic incident occurred when their twin-engine aircraft went down just minutes after taking off.

The victims included James Weller, 67, the owner of Liberty Steel Industries Inc, his wife Veronica, 68, their son John, 36, and daughter-in-law Maria, 34. The family was en route to Bozeman, Montana when the Cessna they were aboard suddenly crashed, as reported by WMFJ.

The fatalities also included the pilot, Joseph Maxin, 63, and the co-pilot, Timothy Blake, 55. The devastating crash occurred a mere seven minutes after the plane had departed from Youngstown Regional Airport on that fateful Sunday.

The aircraft went down around two miles west of the airport in the backyard of a home in a heavily wooded area.

The crash was described as the deadliest in the area’s history by Howland Township Fire Chief Raymond Pace.

First responders struggled to reach the crash site due to the dense woods, but were eventually able to recover all six bodies.
