“Iron sharpens iron. To see their greatness, it only drives me to be great,” Cephus told First Coast News.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville Jaguars second-year wide receiver Joshua Cephus continued to shine at training camp, making big plays and hauling in tough catches.

Cephus, who started last season on the practice squad, said he’s focused on making the 53-man roster this time around. He credited the wideouts around him for pushing him to improve.

“It’s been a good start so far,” Cephus said.

Working alongside Brian Thomas Jr., Travis Hunter, Dyami Brown and Parker Washington has elevated his game, he said.

“Those are great guys, on and off the field. I’m fighting for a job too, so I just want to show that I’m going to be here,” he said. “Iron sharpens iron. To see their greatness, it only drives me to be great.”

Cephus added that he’s used to being overlooked.

“I’m a dog, you know what I’m saying? I’ve always been counted out — it’s nothing new to me. I kind of expect it at this point,” he said. “It only makes me more hungry to prove everybody wrong and prove myself right.”

The Jaguars are expected to finalize the 53-man roster near the end of training camp.
