Tyrone Moring, 25, was arrested after authorities recovered several weapons in his possession believed to be connected to a shooting on Ninth Street.

BAKER COUNTY, Fla — A fugitive on Baker County’s most wanted list is behind bars after he was found hiding in a shed with multiple weapons as authorities executed a search warrant on Sunday, according to Sheriff Scotty Rhoden.

Rhoden told First Coast News that 25-year-old Tyrone Moring was arrested after a shooting investigation near Ninth Street. The shooting left one person in the hospital.

“We received a call of a shooting in progress over here in the area of Ninth Street and Grissom, and when we responded here, the officers responded and found a victim that was rushed to the hospital,” Rhoden told First Coast News.

The person was taken to the hospital in critical condition but is expected to survive.

It’s unclear what led up to the shooting, but during the investigation, police executed a search warrant on a home on Ninth Street. That’s where they found Moring, who investigators said was wanted for multiple charges, including burglary and stalking, hiding on the property.

“In the search warrant, we were able to find one of our most wanted fugitives that we just launched our app last week, and he was number four on our most wanted list,” Rhoden said.

Authorities said they recovered several weapons in Moring’s possession believed to be connected to the shooting. It remains unclear who fired the shots, as multiple people were involved, according to the sheriff.

“We have identified the majority of the people involved in this incident, and there’s gonna be several arrests coming,” Rhoden added.

He warned young people not to get involved in crimes like this.

“Young people, put the guns down,” Rhoden said. “Carrying a gun is not cool, because when you pull the trigger, you can’t put the bullet back in the gun, and the bullet is going to land somewhere, and somebody innocent could get killed.”

The sheriff said the investigation remains active and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is processing evidence found in the neighborhood. The incident caused road closures in the area as authorities conducted their investigations.

Investigators said there are no other threats to the community.
