Police in Ohio are currently on a manhunt for an individual who is believed to be responsible for a mass shooting at a manufacturing warehouse. Tragically, one person has been killed, while five others sustained injuries as a result of the incident.

New Albany Police responded to an active shooter at KDC/One on the 8800 block of Smith Mill Road North just before 11pm late Tuesday night.

Cops confirmed one person was killed and a further five were rushed to local hospitals in the ‘targeted type of attack’.

The alleged gunman has been identified as Bruce Reginald Foster III, and law enforcement officials have stated that he has fled the area. Authorities are actively pursuing leads in an effort to locate and apprehend him.

In an update posted by the NAPD at 1.26am, police said they had finished evacuating employees from the building.

Residents are instructed to ‘avoid the area’ as cops hunt the suspect. An investigation is underway at the scene.

Police urge anyone who can assist in the investigation to call NAPD at 614-855-1234.

The KDC/One facility manufactures cosmetics for LBrands stores, according to the New Albany Chamber of Commerce website.

During an early morning press conference, New Albany Police Chief Greg Jones provided details about the shooting. The incident occurred in a large building and is considered a targeted attack. In total, six individuals were shot, resulting in one fatality.

When officers arrived at the scene, they witnessed some employees ‘self-evacuating the building.’

First responders managed to evacuate everyone from the factory, which Jones estimates was ‘at least 150 people’, and took them to a ‘neighboring building’.

Police say the deceased, whose identity is being withheld pending family notification, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The five other victims have been transported to a nearby hospital. Their conditions are currently unknown.

‘Everybody else seems to be in good health,’ Jones said. ‘Again, a lot of them didn’t know what happened. They were aware of it until they were evacuated.’

The chief told WCMH reporters that officials have identified a person of interest and are working to ‘bring them into custody.’

Police have are searching for Foster, who remains at large. Officials do not believe he poses an ongoing threat to the community.

‘We believe we may know their location. We don’t have any reason to believe that they are a general threat to society,’ Jones said. ‘It appears at this point to be a targeted type of attack.’

Police have not yet determined a motive for the attack, but note that they did not receive any ‘reports of an altercation beforehand or afterward’. Officials also refused to confirm if the suspect worked in the factory.

A firearm was recovered from the scene and the factory has been cleared.

Investigators are interviewing witnesses, but Jones notes that they are working through ‘language barriers’ with some of the workers.

Police say their investigation into the shooting, which Jones referred to as a ‘very tragic situation’, remains ongoing.

‘Our thoughts go out to the victims, their families, and everybody that works at this facility,’ he added. ‘This is something that we hoped that would never happen in our community. But we prepare for it.’

The site is just one of 24 manufacturers located in the New Albany Beauty Park and has produced over 1.5 billion units in over 3,000 different SKUs since its opening in 2012.

This incident comes less than 24 hours after one person was shot dead in Hamilton – 118 miles from New Albany – during the early hours of Tuesday, The Independent reported.

Hamilton police said they were alerted of shots being fired on Clovernook Drive at around 5:45 am.

The shooting took place following an ‘altercation’ between two people that ended with one person being killed, police added.
