The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office confirmed officers responded to a reported stabbing at a Marathon gas station on Pearl Street.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Fire & Rescue Department has confirmed one person was taken to the hospital in serious condition from a Marathon gas station in the 3600 block of Pearl Street Thursday.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says a stabbing happened at this scene.

JSO says the investigation is still active.

Timothy Hicks, who lives in the area, said he witnessed a fight unfold.

“A big old fight happened with a few people,” Hicks said. “Somebody got stabbed real, real bad.”

Hicks told First Coast News he stepped in to help the woman because he knew her from the neighborhood.

“I just couldn’t let nobody just stab her up like that and just let her die and let nothing bad happen to her,” he added.

Police have not released information about any suspects or arrests as the investigation is ongoing.

Hicks urged others in the community to make good choices.

“To all the adults, you know right from wrong, you know what you should and shouldn’t do,” Hicks said. “You don’t want to be in the graveyard or the prison cell, so make the right choices.”
