Social media influencer Bobbi Althoff expressed strong disapproval of Donald Trump’s immigration policy after her friend, an undocumented immigrant, was caught during a raid at a Home Depot.
Althoff, recognized for her straightforward interviews with celebrities on TikTok, criticized Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) following the arrest of her close friend, Felix Morales Gomez, last week.
Althoff, 28, spoke outside an ICE facility in Adelanto, California where Gomez was being held following his detainment at a Home Depot parking lot.
“I feel very strongly that the current immigration situation is unjust,” she stated while waiting outside the detention center for Gomez.
The influencer, who has over eight million TikTok followers, said she has been losing fans in recent weeks as she speaks out over immigration issues, but said she would continue because ‘I don’t want to be on the wrong side of history.’
‘I’ve been told to not speak up on politics if I want to keep making the money that I am making on social media,’ she said, per ABC7.
Althoff said she and her family have known Gomez her whole life and claimed he came to the United States in 2004.
She acknowledged he was an illegal migrant but said he had no criminal convictions, and said he was waiting in the parking lot to try and find construction work to support his family when he was detained by ICE.

Althoff said she disagreed with ICE detaining illegal immigrants if, like Gomez, they do not have any criminal convictions to their name.
‘Going up to car washes, and Home Depots – you’re taking hard working people away, people who are not criminals who have not done anything wrong here,’ she said.
‘And I know people are going to say, “well they broke the law,” but there is no explanation or justification for what they’re doing to these people at all.’
Gomez’s niece Ermelinda Estevan joined Althoff outside the ICE facility and said they were trying to schedule an appointment to see him, but said their whole family has been left ‘very worried’ by his arrest.
‘If the government wants him out, I’m pretty sure he’s going to understand and go by his own will. But peacefully, because he’s never done anything wrong to this country or to anyone,’ she said.
Althoff said her decision to speak out against Trump has cost her followers on social media, but said it was a trend she was used to after previously using her platform to post about the Israel-Hamas war.
‘I have a large platform, and I have a lot of people who consume my content every day, so if I can change just one person’s mind, I think that’s at least a start,’ she said.

She added that she voted for Trump in 2016 when she was 18, but described herself as ‘naïve’ at the time.
‘People are so naïve to what it really means to the families this is happening to and that they’re breaking apart,’ she said.

The influencer is best known for her interviews with rappers such as Drake, but said in a TikTok video that she wanted to speak to the president to speak about his deportation crackdown.
Althoff accepted she may not ‘be the most educated person’ but told her millions of followers in a three-minute video online ‘what is happening right now is very scary’.
‘President Trump, if you’re watching this… I am asking you to please sit down and have an interview with me,’ she said in her clip.
‘I think perhaps you surround yourself with people who agree with you and maybe you need to hear another perspective.’
