In the early hours of Wednesday, actor Rudy Youngblood, renowned for his role in Mel Gibson’s film “Apocalypto,” found himself in legal trouble in Belton, Texas. Local authorities confirmed the arrest, shedding light on the circumstances leading up to the event.
The incident unfolded when a police officer, patrolling near a boat ramp by Lake Belton around 12:20 a.m., approached a parked vehicle to speak with its owner. The individual in question was identified as Youngblood.
Upon further inquiry, it was revealed that Youngblood had an outstanding warrant issued by the Travis County Sheriff’s Office. The warrant was linked to allegations of assault involving a family or household member, specifically concerning acts that impeded breathing or circulation.
As the situation escalated and Youngblood was being taken into custody, law enforcement officers reported discovering a white crystalline substance in his possession.
Belton police confirmed the arrest, emphasizing the outstanding warrant for assault as the primary cause. This incident marks a significant development in Youngblood’s legal journey, drawing attention to the actor’s off-screen challenges.
He remained in the Bell County Jail late Wednesday morning on the Travis County charges, with police saying additional charges were pending lab results. His bond on the Travis County charge was set at $20,000.
Authorities did not provide any additional details.
Youngblood’s biography indicates he attended Belton High School, about 60 miles north of Austin. According to IMDb, Youngblood’s on-screen debut was in “Apocalypto,” where he played the leading character of Jaguar Paw. The film was nominated for multiple Oscars.
Youngblood’s other recent roles have included “Dandelion Season,” which “presents Middle Eastern women’s voices through moving dramatic storytelling, rich emotion, and poetic visuals,” and “The Haunting of Hell Hole Mine.”
Earlier this year, Youngblood was cast to star as a tortured artist in “La Matadora,” Deadline reported. Five other projects he is involved in are forthcoming, his IMDb page shows.
