A Georgia man who blew up his ex’s house and planned to set a python on her daughter has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison.

Stephen Glosser, aged 38, admitted in court last Thursday to using an improvised explosive device to obliterate the residence of a woman in Richmond Hill, Bryant County, back in January 2023.

It is alleged that he conspired with his 34-year-old housemate, Caleb Kinsey, who is currently awaiting sentencing, with the intention of ending her life after she spurned him following the conclusion of their relationship that originated from a dating application.

Reports suggest that the duo had devised a plan to shoot arrows at her front door, decapitate her, send her parcels containing dog waste or deceased rodents, detonate the property, and set a snake loose to harm her child.

He was given his sentence after pleading guilty to stalking and use of an explosive to commit another felony offense, according to the Southern District of Georgia Attorney’s Office.

Presiding Judge R Stan Baker also ordered Glosser to pay $507,781 in restitution to the two victims, and to serve three years of supervised release upon completion of his sentence.

‘The level of malevolent violence in this case is astounding, and it’s truly fortunate that there were no deaths as a result of this horrific crime,’ said US Attorney Tara Lyons.

‘This successful prosecution is a credit to the outstanding investigative work of the ATF and our state and local law enforcement partners.’

He allegedly planned with his 34-year-old roommate Caleb Kinsey to kill her after she rejected him when their dating-app romance ended

It remains unclear the dating-app Glosser and his ex-girlfriend met on. After the break-up, the pair had blocked each other, but he figured out where she lived.

Glosser located the victim’s residence using internet searches on his cell phone based on an image the victim had previously shared with Glosser.

‘His co-conspirator purchased exploding targets online, and the two used the explosive material to construct a bomb that Glosser and his co-conspirator used to blow up the victim’s home,’ according to the attorney’s office.

‘After the bombing, Glosser hired a cleaning service to clean the carpets in his residence to hide traces of the bomb-making materials.’

‘This case demonstrates the devastating impact of violent criminals who stop at nothing to terrorize their victims. ATF, along with our law enforcement partners, will aggressively pursue and bring to justice those who use explosive devices as tools of destruction,’ said Beau Kolodka, Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Atlanta Field Office of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.

A search warrant was executed on their Richmond Hill home and their phones, evidence of explosives and photos of them posing with high explosives were seized.

‘They were both posing with the Tannerite, with Tannerite hats on. We also have evidence of 80 pounds of Tannerite being ordered and delivered to the residents,’ the ATF said.

According to investigators, Tannerite is legal but the two men mixed it with another compound to create a bomb, which is illegal, he said.

The pair were said to have plotted to shoot arrows into her front door, scalp her head, mail her dog feces or dead rats, blow up the home, and release the snake to eat her daughter

Remnants of the same substance was found in the suspect’s home. They also found Glosser’s journal that revealed the two men discussed blowing up a courthouse and hurting a former coworker.

His journal revealed other entries including ‘suicidal thoughts, homicidal thoughts of wanting to kill [the victim] and had bulk Tannerite to blow up her house,’ the ATF said.

The pair were foiled when a witness revealed they saw a black SUV racing away from the scene of the bombing. The car was later linked to Kinsey.

Both men were later indicted on multiple charges: unlawful possession of an explosive, first-degree arson, stalking, use of an explosive to commit another felony offense, conspiracy to use an explosive to commit a felony, and possession of an unregistered destructive device.

Kinsey also faces weapon charges and was taken into custody in Louisiana on unrelated charges.
