The city of Los Angeles buzzed with energy as the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame honored its 2025 inductees during a lively ceremony on Saturday evening.

This year, the legendary band Soundgarden was among those celebrated, marking a poignant moment more than eight years since the passing of their iconic frontman, Chris Cornell.

Expressing her admiration, Seattle-born musician Brandi Carlile shared, “Growing up and still living in Seattle, Soundgarden are our heroes. They are a pillar in the rock and roll world for everyone from my city.”

Another highlight of the evening was the induction of the enduring rock group Bad Company.

As they graced the red carpet, Entertainment Guru George Pennacchio inquired, “What is the essence of Bad Company that has earned you a place in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame?”

“You know, a simple, solid, straightforward, no frills rock and roll,” drummer Simon Kirke said.

“These artists spend their whole lives, their whole careers, to be here on this stage this night. It’s something that they know only few get to be honored, kind of like Cooperstown in baseball and Canton, Ohio, for football. It truly is music’s highest honor,” John Sykes said.

The White Stripes were also inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, plus Outkast, Chubby Checker, and, among others, Salt-N-Pepa.

“As women in hip-hop, a male-dominated field, and in the ’80s, this was a little testy. I wasn’t sure about this,” said Pepa, whose real name is Sandra Denton. “And this is, to make it here, category, OK! I feel great.”

The late Joe Cocker was also inducted.

“His music was a part of the soundtrack of our household growing up, and I just think a huge influence on a lot of artists,” singer-songwriter Nathaniel Rateliff said.

Also celebrated was Cyndi Lauper, who now adds Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member to her impressive resume of music.

“I stand on the shoulders of all the women that came before me. And my shoulders are wide enough for the younger ones to stand on. And that’s what’s exciting about this evening,” Lauper said.

You can see the entire Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony streaming now on Disney+. ABC is also putting together a special that will air on New Year’s Day.

The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of Disney+ and this ABC station.
