(The Hill) — Paris Hilton is sharing a glimpse at her Malibu home that was destroyed by the wildfires that have spread through California, saying the loss is “devastating beyond words.”

“I’m standing here in what used to be our home, and the heartbreak is truly indescribable,” the 43-year-old hotel heiress and reality TV star wrote in a Thursday post on Instagram.

“But now, standing here and seeing it with my own eyes, it feels like my heart has shattered into a million pieces,” Hilton said in a caption that accompanied a video showing the burned ruins of her home, including some debris that still appeared to be smoldering.

“This house wasn’t just a place to live It was where we dreamed, laughed and created the most beautiful memories as a family,” the mother of two said.

“What breaks my heart even more is knowing that this isn’t just my story. So many people have lost everything. It’s not just walls and roofs it’s the memories that made those houses homes. It’s the photos, the keepsakes, the irreplaceable pieces of our lives,” she said.

At least 10 people have died due to the wildfires in the Los Angeles area that began earlier this week and have burned more than 10,000 homes and structures, according to officials in California.

Hilton who last month celebrated Congress’ passage of the Stop Institutional Child Abuse Act, a youth welfare bill that she had lobbied for on Capitol Hill had earlier this week described witnessing her house get destroyed.

“Sitting with my family, watching the news, and seeing our home in Malibu burn to the ground on live TV is something no one should ever have to experience,” she wrote on X on Wednesday.

In her latest message, Hilton said despite the pain, she is “incredibly lucky.”

“My loved ones, my babies, and my pets are safe,” she said. “That’s the most important thing, and I’m holding onto that gratitude with everything I have.”

Expressing gratitude for first responders and firefighters, Hilton wrote, “Let this be a reminder to hold your loved ones close. Cherish the moments. Life can change in an instant, and it’s the love we share that truly matters.”
