Passenger has meltdown after 'plane sat on tarmac for an hour'

A dramatic and profanity-filled outburst occurred on a United Airlines flight as a frustrated passenger expressed her anger after being delayed on the tarmac for over an hour, according to eyewitness accounts.

The incident involved an unidentified woman traveling from Newark International Airport in New Jersey on November 9, shortly before the conclusion of the longest government shutdown in U.S. history. As the delay dragged on, she directed a barrage of vulgarities at airline staff and fellow passengers.

The woman, described as blonde and wearing a dress with a high slit paired with a leather jacket, was seated by the window on a flight headed to Charleston International Airport in South Carolina. Her tirade included repeatedly shouting the expletive “c***” amid a series of other offensive phrases.

Her voice escalated as she continued to hurl insults, including “f***ing a**holes” and “f***ing b****,” causing discomfort among nearby passengers.

In response to the disturbance, a female flight attendant approached and requested that the two women seated next to the irate passenger vacate their seats for their comfort and safety.

The irate passenger then seemingly noticed the other two standing up and started to do the same, but she was suddenly stopped by the flight attendant.

‘I’m getting up! Yeah, I’m allowed to stand up,’ the furious woman told the flight attendant as she scrunched her face.

‘Yeah sure -,’ the employee said just before the woman cut her off.

‘When you keep us on the tarmac for an hour, yeah I’m allowed to stand up,’ she interjected before looking down at her phone.

The flight attendant then told the woman: ‘Not a problem.’

‘Not a problem at all, yeah. Really not a problem for me to want to f***ing stand. F***ing c****,’ she added.

The woman then turned her attention directly at the camera recording her before appearing to do the same with her phone.

Everyone watched, seemingly astonished by what was coming out of the woman’s mouth, including another female passenger, who goes by HaleyRose99 on TikTok.

Haley, who watched the scenes unfold as a woman next to her recorded, shared the clip to her profile before posting another that explained the incident in detail.

‘This was truly one of the wildest travel experiences I have ever had,’ Haley said in a follow-up video to the wild moment she witnessed.

Prior to getting on the plane, Haley said the flight was delayed three hours – something not uncommon during the government shutdown when air traffic was hit hard by staffing-related issues.

‘And we sit there for an hour-and-a-half, and just when we think we’re about to take off, the pilot says we’re number 30 in line and we have another hour-and-a-half wait,’ she recalled.

Haley said she quickly noticed everyone’s ‘collective exhaustion’ from the bad news, adding that at exactly that moment, the woman ‘just loses it.’

She then described how a woman tried to get the angry passenger to calm down, but that only made matters worse.

‘Then she completely loses it and is like telling her to unalive herself, saying you don’t know my life, you don’t know where I have to be tomorrow – and she’s just going crazy, still screaming that word,’ Haley said, referring to the crass curse word the woman kept repeating.

The witness also recalled a man speaking up and stating that he was also stressed because he had to attend his mother’s funeral the following day.

‘And that just kind of put everything into perspective for everyone. We’re all stressed, we all have our own things going on,’ Haley stated.

After commending the flight attendants for handling the situation ‘perfectly,’ Haley said the crew had ‘the two biggest guys on the plane sit next to her’ until the plane made its way back to the gate.

Once at the gate, the woman was escorted off as she made a snippy remark, Haley said.

‘She put her sunglasses on and started going “Thank God! Thank God! Thank God!” and is like storming off the plane,’ Haley added.

Haley told the Daily Mail that just before that passenger got on the jet, she saw her drinking. It is unclear if she was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The Daily Mail contacted United Airlines and the Port Authority Police Department for comment.
