PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Pendleton Round-Up attracts large crowds every year — celebrating western culture with a week of rodeo events, concerts, and parades. But this year, some attendees may experience sticker shock when booking their trip to the rodeo.

Ahead of the Round-Up, held September 10-13, some Pendleton hotels are sold out, while other rooms fall in the $100-$500 range. But one hotel chain is listing rooms at a much higher price.

America’s Best Quality Inn Pendleton, a two-star rated hotel on TripAdvisor, is listing some rooms for $9,999, including one Queen Bed Suite from Sept. 11-13.

Ahead of the 2025 Pendleton Round-Up, America’s Best Value Inn Pendleton, lists rooms for nearly $10,000 before rooms open to the public, the property manager told KOIN 6 News.

The hotel’s property manager told KOIN 6 News the hotel is working with a client who is offered the rooms first, before the rest of the rooms open to the public.

The manager declined to share who the client is, noting once they reach a contract, rooms will be priced around $300-400 for the public. That price is expected in one week, according to the manager.

The manager explained that he priced the rooms just short of $10,000 because he knew no one would buy them as the companies work on a deal.

America’s Best Value Inn Pendleton also has some rooms listed for $6,000 in early September.

Sonesta, the parent company of the hotel, could not be reached for comment.
