A Pennsylvania mom traveled over 200 miles in a Lyft to confront her child’s foster family, allegedly firing nine gunshots at them while screaming, ‘They took my baby!’
Kayla Menne, 25, used rideshare car service Lyft to travel over 200 miles from Central Pennsylvania to Kennedy Township, where her biological child was living with caregivers, investigators say.
Witness Duane Mrazec was out walking his dog when he spotted a woman get out of a red car who appeared to be holding a gun.
The concerned neighbor says within seconds, Menne opened fire towards four young kids, including her own child, who were outside on the street with their foster parents.

The foster family were on the street in front of this home when Menne allegedly began shooting
‘I was 4 to 6 feet away when she shot,’ Mrazek told WPXI. ‘I can see the flash at 6pm at night in that gun because that’s how close she was.’

At first he thought it was toy gun – but when she shot at him, he soon realized it was not a joke.
Mrazec says as rounds were fired, Menne was heard shouting, ‘You took my baby!’
Without thinking, he says he tackled her to the ground, and wrestled the gun from her.
‘Everything went blank because I wanted to get the gun before somebody got killed,’ he said.

Investigators say Menne travelled more than 200 miles in a Lyft
As the two tussled on the ground, another neighbor – an off-duty police officer, rushed toward the home.
‘She apologized to me because I wasn’t supposed to be the target, and she was saying something about her kid and then ‘arrest me, arrest me,’ Mrazec said.
The pair restrained Menne until officers arrived. She was transported to Heritage Valley Hospital for a psych evaluation.
Court documents show Menne faces a series of charges, including felony counts of aggravated assault, misdemeanor counts of simple assault, unlawfully carrying a firearm and recklessly endangering another person.
