This release follows a directive from former President Donald Trump, who, in February 2026, called for the declassification of documents related to UAPs, unidentified flying objects, and the possibility of extraterrestrial life. Although the Pentagon had been gradually working towards making these files public, Trump’s announcement reignited public interest with promises of a comprehensive disclosure.
The Trump administration has encouraged the public to form their own opinions based on the newly released data. The files encompass a wide range of materials, including historical State Department communications, FBI documents, and transcripts from NASA’s manned space missions.
However, experts advise a prudent approach to interpreting these files. They caution that UAP videos can be easily misunderstood, particularly by those lacking expertise in military technology. A 2024 report from the Pentagon refuted assertions that the U.S. government possesses alien technology or any definitive proof of extraterrestrial existence.
