Amelia Dimoldenberg, known for hosting the “Chicken Shop Date” miniseries, had an event celebrating the 10th anniversary of her YouTube show disrupted by a person dressed as a giant chicken.

Dimoldenberg’s “Chicken Shop Date” show entails the British media personality interviewing guests in various fried chicken establishments across the U.K. in the form of a purposefully awkward first date. The questions vary from “normal” first date inquiries to more raunchy questions – all while Dimoldenberg alternates between flirting with her guests and teasing them.

Throughout the ten years of her YouTube show, Dimoldenberg interviewed many British celebrities but in recent years has shifted towards other – mainly American – personalities, including the likes of Jack Harlow, Eric André, Billie Eilish, Ben Stiller and even Elmo.

To celebrate a decade on YouTube, Dimoldenberg hosted a two-day event, “10 Years of an Idea,” this weekend showcasing the show’s journey and providing inspiration to the next set of young creatives, the event’s flyer indicates.

Held on Friday and Saturday at a venue in the Shoreditch neighborhood of London, the pop-up featured live panels, interactive workshops, behind-the-scenes action and special guest appearances.

One of those guest appearances was an unscheduled one: a PETA activist dressed as a giant chicken.

The animal rights organization’s United Kingdom branch posted a video of the large costumed fowl walking down the street as event attendees lined up outside. The chicken was wearing a necklace that read “Chickens need love too! Go vegan.”

“Forget awkward dates — @ameliadimz latest guest was a giant chicken,” the social media post reads. “Chickens don’t belong on plates, they deserve love.”

Dimoldenberg did not immediately comment on the situation.
