A Philadelphia resident is now facing charges of attempted murder after officials claim he repeatedly stabbed an employee at a Planet Fitness, a location from which he had previously been prohibited. This attack has left the victim in critical condition.

The suspect, 28-year-old Davier Massey, was taken into custody on Thursday shortly after the violent incident occurred at the gym situated in the Wyncote area of Cheltenham Township, according to local police reports.

Authorities responded to the scene around 12:30 p.m. following reports of a stabbing at the Planet Fitness facility. Upon arrival, they discovered a male employee suffering from several stab wounds. The injured employee was immediately transported to a trauma center, where he is battling life-threatening injuries. The latest updates on his condition have not yet been made available.

According to investigators, the stabbing resulted from a dispute between Massey and the gym employee, with Massey having been barred from the establishment prior to the incident.

Details about the reasons behind Massey’s ban from Planet Fitness and the specific events leading to the confrontation with the employee remain unclear at this time, as noted by the Cheltenham Township Police Department.

“I can’t believe this. I feel like I’m in a dream right now,” one gym-goer told FOX29 Philadelphia.

Another told the station that “all the employees are nice” and “uplifting.”

“It’s a little shocking for something to happen right here,” he said.
