AUSTIN (KXAN) — Light snow and sleet began falling in Central Texas Monday evening, creating scenes of a winter wonderland in and around Austin, Texas.

According to KXAN’s First Warning Weather Team’s snow/sleet accumulation forecast, snow/sleet amounts were expected to be close to an inch along Interstate 35, with lesser amounts in the Hill Country and higher amounts to the east.
Above video shows snow and ice on East McNeil Road in northwest Austin early Tuesday.
A Winter Storm Watch began at 6 p.m. Monday for the Austin Metro and our eastern counties, and a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect in most of the Hill Country.
Cold Weather Advisories continue for the entire area until noon on Wednesday.
