A liberal podcaster is facing significant backlash after harshly criticizing Charlie Kirk’s widow, calling her an “opportunistic grifter.” During a recent episode of her podcast, the host also labeled the late conservative activist as “racist.”
Jennifer Welch, known for her outspoken views, directed her ire at the couple during her “I’ve Had It” podcast episode that aired on Sunday.
The former Bravo television personality was particularly upset with Erika Kirk’s recent remarks at the New York Times DealBook Summit in New York City, where Erika discussed topics including marriage, motherhood, and feminism.
“This woman should be shown the door,” Welch stated emphatically.
“She is nothing more than a grifter, much like Donald Trump and akin to her unapologetically racist and homophobic husband,” Welch remarked.
Kirk was assassinated while debating students on campus at Utah Valley University in September.
The 31-year-old father-of-two had founded Turning Point USA – a conservative organization which endorses candidates and encourages students on campuses across the nation to vote.
His widow, Erika, has since taken over the reins.

Welch accused Erika of trying to lecture educated women and steer them into starting families.
‘You are an opportunistic grifter who weaponizes your gender to demean women,’ she said.
‘You are a walking, talking, breathing example as to why nobody, number one, wants to be a Christian, and number two, wants to be a female hypocrite such as yourself.
‘For you to prance into Manhattan and lecture women who are abundantly aware of the coattails of which we have ridden… to be able to be heard. You are so divorced from reality and you need to go back to the Turning Point bubble.’
Erika had been asked her thoughts on New York City’s mayor elect Zohran Mamdani, and did not hold back about female voters in the city.
‘I think there’s a tendency, especially when you live in a city like Manhattan, where, again, you are so career-driven, and you almost look to the government as a form of replacement for certain things, relationship-wise, even,’ she said.
‘You see things a little bit differently.’
She expressed a hope that women who voted for Mamdani aren’t looking ‘to the government as a solution to put off having a family or a marriage.’

Erika Kirk has taken over the reins at Turning Point USA in the wake of her husband Charlie’s assassination (pictured together)
She said in some circumstances, women could be ‘relying on the government to support you instead of being united with a husband where you can support yourself and your husband can support and you guys can all combine together.’
‘But I just find it so ironic and so interesting that a heavy percentage of the individuals that voted for him were female.’
Welch raged that Kirk’s organization, Turning Point, had actually made ‘women less safe.’
Her co-host Angie Sullivan also weighed into the debate, arguing: ‘Maybe there’s more to life than identifying yourself as someone’s wife or someone’s mother.’
The criticism has sparked outrage among conservatives, who argued she was holding Erika to different standards than she would a liberal woman.
‘Liberal women who run companies: slay queen… Conservative women who do: grifter,’ one critic noted.
‘Jennifer Welch might be one of the most unlikable and despicable people I’ve ever seen,’ another said.
A third added: ‘If she didn’t say such reprehensible things, no one would listen to her.’
Welch faced intense criticism online for her remarks
In the months since Kirk’s assassination, Turning Point USA has continued to expand its network of chapters across American schools.
Erika has vowed to to lead the organization the way her husband would have wanted.
‘Charlie was very good about creating and intentionally building a machine where it turns from founder-led to vision-led, and he shared everything with me,’ she said.
‘I knew his goals, I knew what his vision was for things, so this is not out of my orbit, this is not uncomfortable for me. It’s not, because I’m picking up a mantle that I understand.’
Since Kirk’s death, donors have given almost $10million directly to the grieving widow.
Several funds launched on charitable giving websites GiveSendGo and GoFundMe raised a total $9,765,030 for Erika.
The largest fund, launched by Tucker Carlson’s nicotine-pouch brand ALP, raised $5,485,559 for the mother of two. ALP donated $1million of that figure.
Another fund run by a group called ‘Friends of the Kirk Family’ raised $2,572,643; Liberty Memes Foundation raised $1,003,548; and Glenn Beck’s 9-12 Project raised $703,280.
The late Turning Point founder also reportedly had a life insurance policy that likely paid out at least $10million.
