INDIANAPOLIS A woman accused of drunkenly driving the wrong way down an Indianapolis street berated her arresting officers while claiming she was only being detained because she voted for President-elect Donald Trump.

The 61-year-old woman also called her arresting officer “Lucifer” and accused him of being part of “the Deep State.”

According to court documents, Indy metro police were called around 3:40 p.m. Sunday to the area of 10th Street and Bellefontaine Street after a report of a wrong-way driver. Police found the woman’s vehicle stuck in the snow in the westbound lanes of eastbound 10th Street.

Police immediately noticed the driver appeared intoxicated, reporting that the 61-year-old had glossy red eyes and was slurring her words. She also allegedly admitted straight away to drinking, saying she’d been at a football watch party and drank “three shots of tequila.”

Officers stated that the woman was “extremely abusive” toward police and firefighters who responded to the scene. She refused to take any tests to determine if she was intoxicated.

After being told she was being arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, the woman became even more angry. This is when she told officers that she believed they were only arresting her because she voted for Donald Trump in the presidential election.

The woman went on, accusing the officers further of being part of the “Deep State” and calling her arresting officer “Lucifer.”

As officers read the woman her rights, she yelled over them “the entire time,” police reported.

Court documents reveal the driver had to be lifted into a police vehicle and driven to a hospital. After a warrant was issued for a blood draw, the woman refused to comply and had to be handcuffed to a hospital bed.

The woman was eventually restrained with doctors successfully able to draw blood for testing.

Jail records show the woman was booked into Marion County Jail on two misdemeanor counts of OWI and OWI endangerment. She was released from jail on Monday.

FOX59/CBS4 does not identify individuals charged only with misdemeanors.
