JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A teen motorcyclist has died following a crash Saturday night near the St. Johns Town Center.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said the crash occurred around 9:20 p.m. near the intersection of Gate Parkway and Burnt Mill Road.

The agency said a man in his late teens was riding a motorcycle southbound on Gate Parkway while a woman was driving a Nissan Rogue north on the same road. The driver turned left into the path of the motorcyclist, striking it with its passenger side, police said.

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department responded and pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene.

This is the 46th traffic fatality in Duval County this year and the 11th involving a motorcyclist, according to JSO. Gate Parkway at Burnt Mill Road was closed for a couple of hours as the traffic crash investigation was conducted.
