Democratic contender Zohran Mamdani is currently leading the race for New York City mayor, according to recent polls. However, the dynamics could shift dramatically if Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa decides to exit the contest.
A survey conducted by Gotham Polling & Analytics in collaboration with AARP reveals that Mamdani commands 43.2% of voter support. Trailing behind him is independent candidate and former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, who has secured 28.9%. Curtis Sliwa, the founder of the Guardian Angels, holds 19.4%, while 8.4% of voters remain undecided or favor another candidate.
The landscape changes notably should Sliwa withdraw from the race. In such a scenario, the poll suggests a slim 4% margin between Mamdani and Cuomo, with Mamdani slightly ahead at 44.6% compared to Cuomo’s 40.7%.
