A much-loved flavor from Pop-Tarts is making a comeback after a year-long hiatus.
WASHINGTON — This fall, breakfast enthusiasts have something to look forward to as Pop-Tarts introduces a fresh lineup, featuring a revived fan-favorite flavor alongside new protein-packed options.
According to Kellanova, the brand responsible for Pop-Tarts, the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough flavor will return to store shelves in November. This popular variety last delighted taste buds in 2022.
The returning treat will feature the same delightful combination as before: a caramelized, chocolate chip cookie-inspired filling nestled within a golden crust, topped off with a signature swirl of chocolate icing.
The company promises that each mouthful “delivers the perfect mix of nostalgia and indulgence.”
The pastries will be sold at stores nationwide, costing $3.49 for an 8-count box.

The snack maker also announced it will be launching a new line of protein-rich breakfast snacks. Pop-Tarts Protein offers 10 grams of protein per serving (one pastry). But the company says the new lineup will maintain the brand’s signature flavors.
The new Pop-Tarts Protein line debuts in three varieties:
-
Slammin’ Strawberry, featuring the classic tart strawberry filling with frosting and rainbow sprinkles.
-
Boostin’ Brown Sugar Cinnamon, with a gooey brown sugar cinnamon center and a golden-brown crust.
-
Bumpin’ Blueberry, packed with jam-like blueberry filling, sweet icing, and crunchy sprinkles.
Pop-Tarts Protein will also be available nationwide beginning in November, at an MSRP of $3.99 for an 8-count box.

Kellanova, which was created last year when the Kellogg Co. split into two companies, is just one of the many companies jumping onto the protein trend, as consumers look to add more macronutrients to their diets. The company already offers protein-enhanced Eggo waffles, which launched in May 2024.
Protein is an essential building block of life, made up of amino acids. It’s what the body uses to build and repair muscles.
