Recent research suggests that Americans have recognized a decline in their sexual activity levels, leading them to seek out creative and exciting new ways to enhance their experiences in the bedroom. This study indicates a growing interest in experimenting with different positions to revitalize their sex lives.

Researchers from FetishFinder examined Google search patterns to find out which sex positions people are most interested in this year, so far — because what they’re currently doing in bed might be getting stale.

Move over missionary — the Bear Hug position took the cake for being the position most people looked into.

This position — which involves hugging like a bear while standing up — clearly caught people’s attention because it saw a 623% spike in searches within the past year.

Another position many were curious about is the Filthy Sanchez. This position is a tad crude — as it involves smearing bodily fluids on a person’s upper lip. Regardless, it’s the second most searched sexual arrangement.

The Anvil position features one partner lying on their back with legs lifted overhead with the other partner kneeling and… you can fill in the blanks. This one came in third place with a 275% increase in internet searches.

Coming in fourth is the Bridge position — which is a rather physical one, as one partner lifts their hips with the support of their legs and upper body.

People are clearly up for the challenge as the Bridge position increased in searches by over 274%. Maybe some were confused and thought they were searching for a pilates move.

The fifth most searched one is the Full Nelson — which is all about dominance as the receiving partner has their arms pinned above their head in this position.

The remaining top five sex position searches were for the Butterfly, which saw a 223% rise in interest, the classic Straddle, which had an almost 184% lift in search volume, and the Piledriver, which peaked at 149% this year.

The Butter Churner, which isn’t anything too crazy — do a quick search if a refresher is needed — is also on the list. And the Praying Mantis came in last on the viral sex positions list.

Considering the average American has sex only once per week, based on these search results — people are clearly trying to improve that number.

“If Google searches are any indication, America’s sex life got a serious glow-up in 2025,” said a spokesperson for FetishFinder.

“From sensual slow burns to full-throttle freakiness, it is clear people are exploring every corner of their desires,” they added.
