In a tense development from Portland, Oregon, local law enforcement has released images of a fugitive suspect accused of opening fire on two police officers late Monday evening. The Portland Police Bureau is in full pursuit, deploying tactical teams to track down the man at large. He is described as a white male in his mid-30s, sporting facial hair, and last seen wearing a black baseball cap, a black jacket layered over a gray hooded sweatshirt, along with black pants and shoes.
Portland Mayor Keith Wilson addressed the incident during a press conference, highlighting the inherent risks faced by officers daily. “This incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers our officers confront as they work tirelessly to protect our community,” Mayor Wilson stated. He expressed relief that the injured officers are currently in stable condition, extending wishes for their swift recovery and the community’s support.
The shooting incident unfolded at approximately 8:20 p.m. Monday, following a police response to a weapon-related threat. Officers encountered the suspect on Northeast Clackamas Street, between Northeast 16th and 17th Avenues. The urgency of the ongoing investigation is underscored by the Portland Police Bureau’s commitment to capturing the suspect promptly.
The community remains vigilant as authorities continue their search for the individual responsible for this alarming act of violence. The incident has sparked widespread concern, yet also a resolve to ensure safety and justice in its aftermath.

“The suspect fired shots at the officers, striking two of them. The officers were transported to the hospital by ambulance, treated, and their conditions are stable,” the Portland Police Bureau said in a statement.
“The suspect ran off, and numerous officers set up a perimeter around the area in an effort to contain the suspect,” it added. “The Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT), the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT), the Air Support Unit, the PPB Unmanned Aircraft Systems Unit, K9, and others responded to the scene to assist with the search.”

“He also was seen with a black backpack and a green shopping bag. If anyone has information on the identity of this suspect or knows where he is now, please call 911,” the Portland Police Bureau added.
“The suspect is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached,” it said.
